LEWISTON, Idaho — A Kent man suspected of stealing a vehicle in Lewiston crashed the car and was seriously injured Sunday night.
According to the Lewiston Police Department, officers were dispatched to Thain Road near Stewart Avenue around 6 p.m. for a vehicle theft. Police say the suspect nearly drove over the vehicle owner as he was leaving the scene.
While officers were enroute, they learned the suspect had crashed and rolled the vehicle a few blocks away.
Officers say the suspect, 40-year-old Nickalos Yates, was driving nearly 100 mph in a 35-mph zone when he hit a pickup truck and crashed.
Yates had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The person in the truck was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Lewiston Police Department.
