BONNER COUNTY, Idaho — The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of scam callers who are impersonating local law enforcement officials to demand money.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the calls are disguised to look like the Sheriff’s Office or other regional law enforcement agencies are calling.
Scammers will claim you have missed jury duty or have an arrest warrant against you. To avoid arrest, the scammer will say you have to pay a fine or bail money.
The Sheriff’s Office said it does not call people over the phone requesting money in any form, including gift cards or Bitcoin.
If you fell victim to this scam and lost money, call Bonner County Dispatch at 208-265-5525 to make a report.
