PULLMAN, Wash. – South Dakota State coach Jimmy Rogers is officially the new head coach for Washington State.
WSU Football made the announcement Saturday afternoon on X/Twitter, captioning it with “Welcome to the Palouse, Coach Rogers.”
Rogers signed a five-year contract with the Cougs. He has led the Jackrabbits for two seasons and won an FCS national title in 2023.
He’s an Arizona native who also played football at South Dakota State.
Rogers replaces Jake Dickert who recently left to take the head coaching job at Wake Forest. He is WSU Football’s 35th head coach.

Multiple reports say Washington State is closing in on a deal to hire South Dakota State coach Jimmy Rogers to lead the football program.
Bruce Feldman from The Athletic says Rogers is expected to become the next head coach.
Ross Dellenger from Yahoo Sports said on Twitter/X “Deal not done but is expected to get there soon.”
ESPN is also reporting that the deal should be finalized soon.
