SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Regional Emergency Communications says it’s taken a big step in expanding its support for public safety.
SREC has closed the purchase of a $9.11 million facility in Spokane Valley.
The building, located on Mirabeau Parkway near Pines Road, is more than 44,000 square feet with room for parking, SREC’s radio tower, and emergency vehicles, according to SREC.
Currently, SREC leases space from the Spokane Fire Department and says the organization is unable to renovate enough to accommodate for current operations and future growth.
SREC says construction on at the building is planned for summer 2025 and it expects to move in spring 2026.
SREC says funds had been set aside for this move over the past several years to make-sure the project is cost-effective and minimizes debt.
“We’re excited to begin our next chapter in Spokane Valley,” said SREC Executive Director Lori Markham. “This new location positions us to serve the community for the next 30+ years and supports our employees with a convenient, efficient, and future-ready workplace. Achieving this major milestone has been part of the strategic plan we developed when SREC was formed, and it’s great to see this vision become a reality.”
