SPOKANE, Wash. — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has detected several more cases of Chronic Wasting Disease in local deer populations.
Fish and Wildlife says four new cases in white-tailed deer have been confirmed in animals harvested by hunters.
Three of the infected deer were found with five miles of the initial two cases and the fourth was found near Davis Lake in Pend Oreille County.
CWD is transmissible disease infecting cervids and is fatal for deer, elk, and moose.
Fish and Wildlife says CWD is not shown to infect people, but research is still ongoing.
