SANDPOINT, Idaho — Idaho State Police troopers are investigating a crash north of Sandpoint that forced the closure of Highway 95 at Cindy Ln.
The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office issued an advisory just before 9 a.m. Friday that the highway was closed. The road reopened just after noon.
According to ISP, a 61-year-old man from Moyie Springs was driving south on Highway 95 about 16 miles north of Sandpoint.
Troopers say the man was driving a Dodge pickup and crossed into northbound lanes to pass other southbound vehicles. While in opposing lanes, the Dodge driver hit a Ford Edge head-on with people in the car.
ISP says a child in the Ford died at the scene. Two 33-year-old women and another child in the Ford were taken to the hospital. The pickup driver was also taken to the hospital.
ISP says the crash is still under investigation.
