SPOKANE, Wash. — While Donald Trump secured victory in the presidential election nationwide, Washington favored Kamala Harris as its pick for the White House.
In Spokane County, however, the results told a different story. Unofficial election data shows that about 51% of Spokane County voters supported Trump, while 46% cast their ballots for Harris.
The remaining votes were split among other candidates, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. receiving nearly 5,000 votes.
Notably, this is not Spokane County’s first endorsement of Trump. He was also the county’s choice in the 2020 election.
Voter turnout in Spokane County was strong, with 78% of ballots returned, equating to approximately 291,000 voters. The election results will be certified next Tuesday, November 26.
A map of Washington’s county-by-county results highlights the east-west political divide. On the west side, populous counties like King, Snohomish, and Pierce overwhelmingly backed Harris, while Trump dominated in Eastern Washington counties, including Spokane.
Whitman County, home to Washington State University, was the lone Eastern Washington exception. Harris edged out Trump there by about 1,600 votes.
