SPOKANE, Wash. — Hundreds of teachers, paraeducators and staff at Mead School District rallied against the school before the Board Meeting on Monday night.
Just before the October 21 Board Meeting, 400 workers from the Mead PSE Union showed up dressed in blue for a rally to demand better pay and benefits from their employer.
The union said negotiations with the district have stalled.
“We need them to come to the table. We need them to recognize who we are, what we do, inside and outside of the classroom. We need them to know and support us and pay us what we deserve,” said Shantel Kosanke, a unionized Mead School District employee.
As of Monday night, the Union said a strike is not currently under consideration, however, if negotiations continue to stall, it could become a possibility.
