SPOKANE, Wash — As the Spokane Indians conclude their season, they’re doing so away from their home base. With Avista Stadium undergoing significant renovations, playoff games have been relocated to bulldog territory at Gonzaga University’s ballpark.
Currently, Avista Stadium resembles a construction site more than a baseball field, with mounds of dirt replacing the familiar diamond. The renovations are part of a broader effort to meet new standards set by the reorganization of minor league baseball.
“This renovation is all about enhancing the field,” Klein explained. “We’re aiming for a major league-quality field that drains well, as our games now begin in April.”
The upgrades will include larger dugouts, improved safety netting, and the addition of new technology, including a video board that’s in the works for fans.
“This construction ensures that baseball will remain in Spokane for many years to come,” Klein added. “We have a rich history of baseball here, and we want to continue that tradition.”
Despite the changes, the season is far from over. The Indians are set to play their first home playoff game this Friday at Gonzaga. They are pursuing their twentieth championship in team history and will be looking for strong community support to help drive them to victory.
Tickets for the game are available for fans eager to support the Indians in their playoff quest. For more information, visit the Spokane Indians site here.
