They pushed the broadcast back a day as to not compete with the Presidential Debate, but tonight is the night!
It’s the 40th anniversary of the awards show, and is sure to be a spectacle. I’m sure Taylor will clean up most, if not all, of her 12 nominations. 8 are for Fortnight, 2 are social categories, Best pop and of course, Artist of the Year. She has been known to use her winning moments to announce something big (Rep TV, anyone??) so we’ll see if she has something up her sleeve. Personally, I’m excited to see Chappell Roan perform tonight. And she better make it worth it! She cancelled several shows in Europe to make the VMAs happen and has a few upset fans online.
One of the new categories this year is VMA’s Most Iconic Moment. The nominees include Eminem, Madonna’s Like a Virgin perfomance from 1984, and of course the infamous Britney/Madonna/Christina kiss from 2003. But the one that I hope takes it home is the incredible Lady Gaga performance of Paprazzi from 2009. One of the best and most shocking moments in the shows history.
Of course there’s a great line up of performers as well: Benson Boone, Eminem, Halsey, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes and yes…. LL Cool J!
Megan Thee Stallion is hosting! You can check it out tonight on Paramount+ and all Paramount channels tonight starting at 6p!
If you need a refresher of Gaga in 2009… I got you!
