ADAMS COUNTY, Wash. – The brush fire burning west of Ritzville has been contained, according to Adam County Sheriff’s Office.
Fire crews remain on location as they watch for flareups.
Deputies estimate the size of the fire to be five miles long.
Two older unoccupied building structures were lost during the fire.
Adam’s County Sheriff’s Office believe the fire was started by a farm mowing Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) ground.

Eastbound I-90 is closed again at SR 21 west of Ritzville according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).’

WSDOT said the right lane of eastbound I-90 remains closed for fire personnel.

The left lane of eastbound I-90 has reopened allowing traffic through, according to WSDOT.
WSDOT said they may need to close the road again but are currently letting traffic through.

Washington State Patrol has shut down State Route 21 and eastbound I-90 for a brush fire.
According to WSP, the brush fire forced the closure of the highway from I-90 to Franz Road about 14 miles west of Ritzville around noon.
Around 1:30 p.m., WSDOT shut down eastbound I-90. Westbound is still open, but drivers are encouraged to take different routes. There are no detours.
There is no ETA for reopening at this time.
