SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The family of a man fatally shot at a red light in Spokane Valley on Sunday is grieving the loss of their loved one.
23-year-old Andrew Buonocore was driving when he was shot at the intersection of Trent Avenue and Argonne Road on August 18.
Deputies arrested the suspect, Marc Rinard, on murder, assault and drive-by shooting charges.
Spokane Valley Police Department said the shooting may have been fueled by road rage.
Now, Buonocore’s family is left coping with the tragedy.
“They were my world, they are my world. They took my son, my only boy, my baby,” said Andrew’s mother, Deborah Buonocore.
Deborah lives in Texas, and received a call on Sunday saying her son had passed away.
She described Andrew as “always smiling.”
“You can’t explain Andrew. He is just a one-of-a-kind kid,” said Deborah.
“Andrew was a man of not very many words, but when he spoke, he had more love than a lot of people could ever see. He cared about everyone equally,” said Jake Carhart, Buonocore’s brother-in-law.
She said her son was a jokester who loved fashion, clothes and shoes, especially his Air Jordans.
Ashley Carhart, Andrew’s sister, had a special bond with her brother. Their mother said the two were “inseparable.”
“He was with me for everything,” said Ashley.
Ashley said she hopes for justice.
“I hope that man gets what he deserves. I hope he never gets out,” she said.
Andrew’s girlfriend was in the car when he was shot. She said she hopes this incident highlights the gun violence issue that she said is prevalent in Spokane.
Andrew’s family said they are still in shock about his sudden passing. They started a GoFundMe page to help support the financial challenges they are dealing with after his death.
