SPOKANE, Wash – If you’re one of hundreds of people in Washington who got a text that you owe unpaid toll fees, don’t click on any links – it’s probably a scam.
People are getting texts from an account claiming to be WSDOT’s Good to Go! services. The scam texts say your vehicle has an outstanding toll fee and will include a specific amount owed.
It advises you to click on a link to pay the amount.
WSDOT issued a warning about this earlier this summer, saying Good to Go! will request online payments at MyGoodToGo.com and will not include a specific amount in a text message.
If you get a text and want to determine if it’s real, go to the Good to Go! website and log in to verify. If you don’t have an account registered with Good to Go! already, the state doesn’t have a phone number to contact you.
WSDOT encourages people to file a report with the Federal Trade Commission and delete the text.
