SPOKANE, Wash. – The suspect involved in a drive-by shooting that led to a SWAT standoff Tuesday night in North Spokane has been arrested.
According to police, 58-year-old Randall S. Bushell was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff at a home near East Frederick Avenue Tuesday night. He is being charged with assault, drive-by shooting, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Police said around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Bushell fired a shotgun at another person on North Crestline before driving away from the area.
The person who was shot at was able to avoid the blast, but a nearby home was struck. No on inside the home was hurt.
Police said there was very little information pointing to the cause of the shooting.
Police found Bushell’s car in the area of East Frederick Avenue just after 6 p.m. SWAT, the Violent Crimes Task Force, hostage negotiators, and an air support unit were called to the scene.
Finally, the standoff ended around 1 a.m. when Bushell was taken into custody without incident.
SPD said Bushell has an extensive criminal history with a previous felony conviction for possessing a controlled substance.
