SPOKANE, Wash. — The Department of Natural Resources has determined the Cemetery Fire burned significantly less acreage than originally estimated.
According to DNR’s Ryan Rodruck, the fire off Government Way burned about 40 less acres than the original estimation of 90 acres.
Rodruck says people in Spokane may see more smoke today as crews continue to mop up the fire.
Rodruck says the smoke will be from large debris piles that firefighters are working on extinguishing. These piles may send more smoke plumes into the air that people can see.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
