IDAHO – Over $37 million is coming to the Nez Perce Tribe to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the region.
The funds, awarded through the Inflation Reduction Act, will focus on installing energy efficiency upgrades in homes on Tribal land, installing solar power at Tribal facilities and reducing reliance on fossil fuels through electric vehicle transportation networks.
The funding is part of a nearly $5 billion program for state, local, and Tribal agencies to develop and implement plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The Environmental Protection Agency said grant money will be awarded by the end of the year, as long as applicants meet all legal and administrative requirements.
