POST FALLS, Idaho — A new hospital in Post Falls is hoping to serve the community by making healthcare more accessible and affordable.
Post Falls ER & Hospital on Beck Road opened its doors in early September and has already seen over 600 patients.
The medical center was started by 14 physicians who partnered with Nutex Health out of Texas to start the practice.
Dr. Robert Seely is the CEO of the hospital and has lived in Post Falls for nearly 15 years.
He said the group was motivated by the lack of affordable, nearby healthcare.
“Just seeing the needs in our community, and one of the needs in our community is certainly access to care,” he said.
The hope is that the new hospital will decrease travel, wait time and cost for patients in the area.
“Every person that comes to the emergency department, we do what we call a medical screening exam,” said Dr. Seely.
Medical staff will assess the situation and, if it’s not an emergency, give the patient information about their options.
“It’s a pretty reasonable idea of what the bill for the visit would be, so thereby, they can help in that medical decision-making as to whether they would like to see that care or not,” said Dr. Seely.
He said this practice is to increase transparency so patients can make informed decisions about their healthcare and financial commitments.
The hospital does work with insurance providers to cover the cost, but since it’s a practitioner-owned facility, they cannot submit bills to Medicare.
“Now that doesn’t mean that we can’t take care of those folks, it just means that we can’t bill their insurance,” said Dr. Seely.
In the coming weeks, the hospital will add X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans and MRIs to their list of available care services.
