SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — An emergency alert went out to people around the Spokane Valley area Friday morning telling them to shelter in place.
SWAT and police were in a standoff with an armed individual at the Valley 206 Apartments on N. Wilbur Road. Neighbors said the incident began around 2 a.m.
According to police, an armed wanted man was located at the apartments and refusing to surrender. Police say at one point, he took another person hostage, but that individual has since been rescued.
The man had been sought by police for several days on a warrant but it’s unknown at this time what the alleged crimes are.
SWAT and K9 units eventually went into the apartment around 8:30 a.m. The suspect was seen running out the backdoor and was quickly taken into custody.
