SPOKANE, Wash. — Disability Action Center NW will host its 3rd Annual ‘Bridging Community Celebration’ with a family-friendly event in Riverfront Park later this month.
On July 26 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., the multicultural event will take place around the park’s fountain and celebrate the intersection of disability and cultural diversity in the Spokane area.
“July 26th is the 35th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA),” said Mark Leeper, Executive Director of Disability Action Center NW. “Disability is present in every culture and every economic background. We want to celebrate the many cultures in our area and how they intersect with disability.”
Mayor Lisa Brown will kick off the celebration with an ADA proclamation and speech. The event will also feature different multicultural dance performances.
Attendees will enjoy tacos, kettle corn, shave ice and other tasty treats and free food tickets and t-shirts will be available while supplies last.
The event will also include a resource fair featuring more than 20 vendors, cultural crafts and a Kid’s Zone with face painting, games, crafts and sidewalk chalk.
The celebration is free and open to the public.
