CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — An injured climber was rescued and airlifted from Sinister Peak on Monday, according to Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 1:30 p.m. on July 14, CCSO received a call from Washington State Emergency Operations Center about a message from a satellite tracking device indicating a man had broken an ankle while climbing Sinister Peak.
CCSO said the call came in from a group who was in the area and heard the injured man calling across the canyon for help.
After walking over some glacial, rocky terrain, the group was able to get to the 31-year-old man who had fallen and sustained head, neck and shoulder injuries.
He was also in the beginning stages of hypothermia.
A helicopter responded to the Peak and airlifted the man to Seattle hospital.
